8/4 Game Notes Ems vs Dust Devils

Another great pitchers duel tonight. Both starters looked great and the Em’s bullpen continues to be strong. For more about the game tonight you know what to do.

Cody Hebner was strong in his first outing as a starter (I believe). This kid is the most fun to watch out of all the NWL pitchers because of his short stature, big twisting delivery, and surprisingly good velocity.

Holy hell the catcher for Tri City has a hose. I had him in the sub 2.10 range which is nuts.

Donavan Tate still looks a tad off at the dish but he put together one awesome at bat tonight where you really get an idea how special this kid can be. He turned on a well placed inside fastball and hit a frozen rope down the left field line. For most hitters this is a single but Tate kicked it into 3rd gear and slid into 2nd well ahead of the throw.

Matt Andriese continues to look awesome on the bump and even lowered his league leading era.

Ricardo Ferer for Tri City had the Em’s off balance all game. His curveball seemingly got better as the game went on.

Eventful night for the Em’s training staff. The catcher Jeremy Rodriguez got his glove hand clipped during a catcher’s interference and has hand was a nasty blue color but he stayed in the game, threw out a runner, then got a hit. #manstatus

After they fixed up Rodriguez, the trainers had to deal with Matt Stites after he took a smoked line drive off the bat of Brian Humphries directly to the left wrist. He was immediately taken out and had the hand wrapped in ice for the rest of the night.

Tri City’s infield continues to be a model of defensive fundamentals. Jayson Langfels over at 3rd base might not have a laser for an arm but he has soft hands and textbook footwork.

Daniel Killian hit his first homer for the Em’s and it landed in the Em’s bullpen meaning he will get the ball back. Cool moment for the young man.

Chris Wilkes slammed the door and it was another fun night of baseball in the NWL.
