Game Notes and Donavan Tate (Possible) Injury Update

Not a whole lot to mention in the 1-0 win for Tri City.

Donavan Tate did not play.

Taylor Gagnon carved up the Em’s all night. Nobody was close to squaring up a ball of this guy. Great location to all his pitches. Most impressive was the fact he never really threw any breaking stuff until the Em’s threatened with guys on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. He then snapped off some curveballs and sliders to finish the inning strong.

Taylor Featherston has flashed the leather all series long for Tri City but tonight he cranked a Colin Rea fastball for the games only run.

Jeremy Gigilotti seems to get better every time I watch this side arming lefty for the Em’s.

And wow that’s it for the game.

Now on to Donavan Tate.

He did not play tonight and started off the night with his right wrist taped. No more giant soft cast for him. By the end of the game he was lightly throwing with guys between innings. In the dugout he was constantly flexing and twisting his wrist. I haven’t heard anything official yet and nothing happened in games prior to where his wrist was in a position to get injured. I hope the young man did not do something off the field to limit his time on the field yet again.

  1. Donavan Tate: Since the suspension, I have been interested in reading about him. He sat near me in the stands a few times and I was able to talk with him some. I wonder if his off the field activities that have caused him to lose time on the field are the result of a lack of maturity. He obviously has baseball talent in that he was drafted in the first round. The Padres must have hope that he will settle in at some point, because they have kept him even though he was drafted back in 2009.( Wondering if he is trying to emulate Dennis Rodman.)
