Paul Bingham

6’3″ 205lbs.

Build: Perfect pitchers body. Long arms and legs that are built but still show room for maturation.

Arm action and mechanics: Very loose and long arm with a questionable release. Comes directly over the top and shortens the arm following a long back swing. Imagine a quarterback’s release. His arm speed is slow but I don’t know whether he physically lacks the ability to pick up the arm speed or is just being deliberate. His glove hand swings across his body instead of reaching straight out for the plate. His lower half works well helping him get on top of the ball and keep a good plane towards home plate.

Fastball: Lacks velocity but he spotted it well throughout the night. Kept the ball low almost exclusively. He would elevate the fastball when he was ahead in the count.

Curve: Was softer than I would like but did not show a “pop” out of his hand. Had great downward 12-6 break. Showed good command of this pitch throughout the night and was not afraid to throw it when behind in the count.

Changeup: The changeup was his best pitch tonight. His slow arm speed worked with the changeup. Showed a bit of arm side fade and sink during the night. His changeup did miss the zone more often than not but it missed down as opposed to up or off the plate.
